1,000 Joys. 1,000 Educators.
Every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported.
For young people navigating trauma, chronic stress, or adversity, a caring and responsive adult can make an extraordinary difference. But the adults children rely on need support, too.
We're on a mission to bring meaningful trauma-informed learning and support to 1,000 educators.
And we're starting with 150 educators in 2027.
Help us raise $15,000 by December 31, 2026, to make that first milestone possible.

Research Tells Us
Research tells us that one of the most important protective factors for children navigating adversity is a stable, supportive relationship with at least one adult.
Think about what that means in a classroom.
A teacher who notices when something isn't right. An adult who responds to frustration with curiosity rather than judgment. A relationship that helps a child feel safe enough to learn, connect, and grow.
But what happens when those adults are overwhelmed, too?
Educators are expected to recognize signs of trauma, respond thoughtfully to challenging behaviors, and create environments where young people feel safe and connected, often while navigating significant stress themselves.
When educators lack adequate support, it can become harder to provide the consistent, responsive relationships that young people, especially those navigating adversity, depend on.
We can't keep asking educators to be a source of stability without investing in their own.

Introducing Fostering Resilient Classrooms
Because knowing what children need is different from having the support to provide it.
A Thousand Joys developed Fostering Resilient Classrooms to help educators strengthen their own resilience while building practical skills for supporting young people.
Rather than offering information alone, the program combines:
Self-paced learning to understand how trauma and chronic stress affect adults, young people, behavior, and learning.
Live group coaching to explore real challenges, learn alongside peers, and practice applying new approaches.
Guided reflection to recognize personal stress responses and develop greater awareness of how they influence interactions.
Practical tools to support regulation, strengthen relationships, and foster safety and belonging.
We also know that training alone cannot overcome unsustainable workloads or systems that don't support staff wellbeing. That's why A Thousand Joys' broader work includes coaching and organizational consulting to strengthen the conditions in which educators and young people learn and grow.
Our goal isn't to ask educators to do more. It's to give them more of the support they deserve.

The first 150. The beginning of something bigger.
1,000 Joys. 1,000 Educators. is our multi-year commitment to making Fostering Resilient Classrooms accessible to 1,000 educators.
Our first milestone is to support 150 educators in 2027, including those who might not otherwise have access to this kind of learning and support.
Imagine 150 educators strengthening their understanding of trauma, developing practical approaches to navigating stress, and bringing those skills into their classrooms.
And beyond them, the young people whose everyday experiences may be shaped by those interactions.
The potential doesn't stop with the educator.
Help us take the first step.
